Carbon and Silicon Entwined
by Kim Solez

Love songs deal with pairings between flesh forms carbon based,
Even as diverse as a hippo canary interface*.
But in the digital era a new perplexity dawns:
The possibility of affection between carbon and silicon.
The possibility of affection between carbon and silicon.

Robotic dog new man's best friend, And for woman - robotic companion.
For a child robopup breaks the ice and inhibitions loosen,
To have a close companion, With makers guarantee,
Entertaining, cute, and useful, Is a carboform's great dream.

One could have a social life of silicon perfection
While flesh based partners always need constant resurrection.
The course of love never does run smooth, a carboform once said.
So why should it be different for man and his new best friend.
So why should it be different for man and his new best friend.

Some people think poorly of silicon, And prefer it caged in a box.
They'd never endure an Aibo**, Never shake hands with a bot.
But they know the world is wide, And human vision limited.
So put a robot on the crags of Mars, And images will be transmitted!

Those who late are suffering what we call love unrequited,
They touch its keys, install software, but always are uninvited,
To receive a gift, a smile, a stroke, from a mostly grey machine,
So make a robopup of it, and the skeptics' faces gleam.
So make a robopup of it, and the skeptics' faces gleam.

"It loves me, it loves me!" They'll think to themselves. "It knew I
was here all along."
"I'm sorry I thought you were cold and heartless. I was clearly wrong!"
"I'm sorry I thought you were cold and heartless. I was clearly wrong!" (slows)
